My Favorite Recipe Books and Online Resources
I’m asked frequently for recipe and cooking ideas, especially when people find out I eat primarily vegan.
For people shifting to a more plant-based way of eating, it can seem daunting or confusing at first to know what to eat. I give you a good variety of plant-based protein options in my book Fit Healthy Free Life, however, I don’t provide any meal plans or recipes in the book. And I didn’t feel I needed to, because there are already so many incredible resources available for plant-based recipes and ideas in the many books and online websites that I frequent for my own ideas.
Why reinvent the wheel, right?
Ok, let’s get to it! With vegan cooking, the question that most pops up is, “am I going to get enough protein?” My answer is, “yes, as long as you eat a good variety of plant-based proteins in your meals throughout the day.” Many people are surprised to find out just how much beautiful, muscle-building protein is in plants!
I explain in my book Fit Healthy Free Life (available on Amazon) where to find your best Anti-Inflammatory plant-based proteins and why it’s a much healthier option.
My favorite online recipe websites include:
www.forksoverknives.com
www.acouplecooks.com
www.ohsheglows.com
www.veganyackattack.com
Of course, there are SO many more vegan and plant-based blogs and websites available with absolutely delicious recipes and meal ideas! It’s always amazing to me how EASY it is to cook plant-based, and how truly YUMMY every single recipe is that I’ve tried! It’s so much healthier, and usually much less expensive too!
And I can promise you this, you’ll feel SO much better after a plant-based meal because you’ll feel satisfied instead of “I have to switch to stretchy pants because I’m so bloated” full!
If you like recipe books too, I highly recommend my two favorite plant-based books both containing many easy and scrumptious vegan recipes:
1) The Beauty Detox Solution by Kimberly Snyder
2) The Kind Diet by Alicia Silverstone
My intention for inspiring a plant-based lifestyle of eating and living in general is to help you reduce the acidity and oxidation that comes from eating a lot of animal meat, dairy products, and processed food products containing inflammatory ingredients.
This is the shift I made 20 years ago when I was learning how to help my body heal itself from a serious inflammatory condition that caused me two major abdominal surgeries two years in a row. As I learned how to replace the animal products including meat and dairy in my diet to plant-based options, I realized how simple it really was, and I began feeling so much better. Now, 20 years later, I am the healthiest, leanest, and strongest I’ve ever been in my life!
I hope you’ll make the shift in your own life if you haven’t already!
You’ll see in these resources I’ve shared, and through the information in my book as well, how important it is to give your body the natural and powerful nutritional tools with which to reduce the acidity, oxidation, and inflammation leading to many degenerative conditions, premature aging, and disease processes afflicting so many people.
When you try some of these recipes, and if you read my book, I would LOVE to hear from you! Feel free to send me a message through my Contact form on this website, or connect with me on social media!
Ii wish you tremendous health, vitality, strength, and ongoing wellness for a beautiful, long, energetic and purposeful life!
All my love,
Lori
